I'm sorry but I'm not sure what to make of that number. It looks like a model number not a serial number. If the date of manufacture is not obvious on the data tag then off and it's and coded in the serial number.

Perhaps you could attach a photo of the boiler and in another comment a sharp photo of the data tag or tags if there are more than one.

In 1992, purchased Servidyne, Inc., Atlanta, including Servidyne’s chiller service business. In 1994, acquired JWP Inc.’s Network Integration Services business, Pittsburgh. In 2000, acquired Electronic Systems USA (ESUSA), Louisville, Ky. In 2001, acquired MC International, a European provider of refrigeration and A/C systems and services, headquartered in Velizy, France.

In 2002, sold certain assets of the vent and control damper and the economizer business to Ruskin Company, Kansas City, Mo. Ruskin would manufacture the vent and control dampers, but they would continue to be marketed, sold, and distributed by Johnson Controls. Ruskin also would take over the manufacturing and marketing of the economizer dampers, which now would be sold under the Ruskin brand name.

Question: how to determine the age of a Moncrief furnace made by Henry Furnace Company

I am trying to determine the age of a Moncrief furnace made by the Henry Furnace Company Model L-95 Series 4. There is no serial #. It is maroon with chrome trim - Matt Falk Aire Serv - 3/29/2013

The Henry Furnace Company who made Monrief furnaces was a Medina Ohio company. IF data tags were legible you'd find a 3-digit series number (perhaps like 622) equivalent to a model, or an actual Model Number (L150) and a serial number sometimes in the format A-620-22-4-B.
With no data we can't know the age of yours, though sometimes there will be a clue of the 'at least' age by noting data on the equipment service tag or on a date written on the original instructions stuffed up in the framing overhead.
Without any information you can stil bet the Moncrief is more than 20 years old, more likely from the 1950's. The 'safe' advice is to declare a 50-year old heating furnace obsolete, and past due for replacement. A more thorough assessment by someone wanting to put off buying a new furnace would be a thorough cleaning, inspection for damage or heat exchanger leaks, tune-up, and efficiency measurement if the system was found safe and operable.

Be sure that any efficiency assessment is done after cleaning and tuning and a safety inspection.

You will need the serial number for your heater to decode is age. The brand and model number are the starting point but they're not enough.

The problem is, my township inspector said it had to have a U.L. tag on it to be approved or I could not install it. How do I obtain one for this model (VMT-2105 R)? Regrettably, if the particular wood burner that you purchased is NOT UL-listed, you would not find it practical and probably not even feasible to 'obtain a UL Listing' - since doing so requires submitting a product (or perhaps several of them) to an appropriate Underwriters Laboratory for testing and certification or 'listing'.
If the model originally had a UL Listing it should have a metal tag on the device indicating that status.
Now that I've arm-waved and speculated about all the bad news, here's what you want to do:
Go to the Underwriters Laboratories website database
http://database.ul.com
and search for your woodstove by manufacturer and model. UL will tell you if that product ever was listed.
If it was, you could print that information and give it to your astute building inspector.
I tried a search of the UL database for 'Wards' + 'VMT-2105 R' and got no hits. You might try some other variations.

A Nordyne Gas Furnace is a quality product, no matter under which brand-name it goes Nordyne, a subsidiary of Nortek, manufactures heating and cooling equipment in the Midwest and produces HVAC equipment for both the light commercial and residential markets.

They manufacture systems for site-built homes under various brand names such as Westinghouse, Frigidaire, Maytag and Tappan amongst others. Nordyne also manufactures most of the HVAC products for the manufactured housing industry, which go under the brand names of Miller and Intertherm.

To understand how the Nordyne Gas Furnace came about we need to take a brief trip down memory lane to when Nordyne started as the International Oil Heating Company way back in 1919. St. Louis, located in the Mississippi Valley, had such a problem with the by-products of excessive coal-burning that they had to burn candles during daylight hours. Nordyne reckoned that they had the solution with their oil-burners which made less pollution than coal.

Two of the models they sell are the 80% efficiency FG6TA gas furnace which has an adaptive Small Lite Control Board that increases ignition and heightens the performance of the furnace. It has a 2-stage heater and a GE ECM Variable-Speed blower. This minimises the power bill. This model is CSA certified. Westinghouse also markets the popular high efficiency 92+ furnace. Westinghouse furnaces have an eight year warranty on all parts and a five year limited warranty on the heat-exchanger. This includes financing programmes, utility rebates, and warranty protection plans.
• Broan – Broan also sells Nordyne furnaces, and they have just released a new 95% AFUE furnace called the FG7SD/M, which is a single-stage constant speed model. It is available in downflow/horizontal or upflow models. It has an insulated blower compartment and SmartLite technology for longer igniter life. It also has diagnostic lights.
• NuTone – Just released the NuTone FG7SD/M 95% AFUE furnace which is a single-stage, fixed-speed model. It has insulated blower compartments, SmartLite technology and is obtainable in upflow/downflow and horizontal configurations.

Many of these furnaces now sport the ecoLogic systems and are part of the “Go Green, Save Green” instant rebate program and federal tax credit on select products.
